About Us

This site was originally created as an online baby book of sorts. A way to keep long-distance family members and friends up-to-date on what was happening in our family when we added a little one. For two years, it was just that. Interesting to close friends and family, but not necessarily note-worthy to a broader audience.

On September 10, 2011, barely two months past his second birthday, our son Cooper was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. While this site will certainly still serve to update our loved ones on Cooper’s comings and goings, I hope people who are on a similar journey will find their way here. I hope our adjustment to and life with this NEW NORMAL can provide information and inspiration to the parents and extended families of Type 1 kids.

Join us on this journey and come back often to check in!

If you’re just getting to know us, here are a few posts to get you started:

Just found your site. My son is 18 and has had Type 1 since he was 6! It’s been more of an adjustment for me than him, but just wanted to say “thank you” for taking the time to share your thoughts. And I totally understand. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! 🙂

Debbie, thank you so much for checking in with us! I’m sorry it took me almost a year to respond. I would love to hear more about your son and how you guys have handled the teen years (!!) with Type 1.
